Team India is set to tour Australia in late 2024 with the first test match being played in Perth on the 22nd of November. Former Australian coach John Buchanan has come out and aimed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s age ahead of the upcoming tour.

Speaking to PTI, John Buchanan said, “India’s top order Yashashvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma himself Virat Kohli possibly higher they have got to bat well to establish totals and then the likes of Jasprit Bumrah Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj will come into their own.”

This could be the last time the two Indian stalwarts play in front of the Australian crowd. The last time India Toured Australia they won the series with a 2-1 margin. India will play two test matches at home against Bangladesh followed by three matches at home against New Zealand before embarking on the tour of Australia.

John Buchanan favours Australia to do well

According to former Australian coach John Buchanan who said while speaking to PTI that he feels Australia will do well in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024. Australia haven’t won the title since 2014 with India winning two series away from home in 2018 and 2020.

John Buchanan also said while speaking to PTI “ But for all that those games that have passed those players are gone and the new players we have both in the Australian side and the Indian side, they are at a stage of their careers where they all want to perform. I looked at the ages and India has got some ageing players on that side notably Rohit who is 37 and Kohli is 35 And if you look at the Australian side there are only one or two players who are under 30”

The former Australian coach ended by saying, ”It will be very much a battle between the very good pace polling attacks of both sides and how the top order players of both sides can deal with the ball that will bounce, seam And probably swing a little bit more in the day and night game in Adelaide.”

The last time India played a test match at Adelaide with the pink ball they were bowled out for a mere 36 runs. Many fans and experts had predicted that India would lose the series 4-0 but in the end, despite losing Virat Kohli, India managed to win the series against all odds.
