After a whitewash against Bangladesh, the Pakistan Cricket team has been constantly criticizing their performance throughout the series. The former players and critics didn't leave a single chance to show their dissatisfaction against the players and their attitude towards the game. Also, there's one player who faced the most amount of criticism because of his performance: Babar Azam.
The former red-ball skipper hasn't performed well for more than a year now. While the fans have showed their majority support towards the player, the former players didn't pay attention to the kind of records Babar had in the past. Ex-skipper of Pakistan, Rashid Latif has been quite critical about the player and said he has some mental issues and that's why he hasn't been able to perform.
"Mental issues zyada lagta hai (There seem to be more mental issues). We need to remember that he was removed forcefully as captain. When the mind is not functioning correctly, it affects the nerves as well. You try to play hard on every ball," said Rashid Latif.
Moreover, in the recently concluded Test series, the former skipper could only score 64 runs in four innings against Bangladesh. Also, he slipped in the ICC rankings and went down to the 12th position which is a career low for him.
Even Babar can't do that: Basit Ali
In the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup, Mohammad Rizwan has proven to be one of the best players in the tournament in terms of his captaincy. Moreover, former player Basit Ali came in his support to speak about his captaincy as to how he has managed the team. Ali also mentioned that even Babar Azam hasn't been able to handle the team this way.
Basit Ali while addressing the fans on his YouTube Channel said, "The way Rizwan led the side, he proved there is no better skipper than him. He has shown it with his captaincy. He read the pitch; it is a big thing. Even Babar can't do that. I am not even talking about Shan. If you don't make him captain at this time, then it is a loss for Pakistan. This is the best time you should make Rizwan the captain.”
