Washington Sundar was given out in controversial circumstances on the opening day of the SCG Test match. Pat Cummins and Alex Carey were yet again at the forefront of the controversy, just like the last game at the MCG. Sundar got a short ball down the leg side that he tried to hit, and the Australian players appealed.
The on-field umpire didn’t budge as Cummins decided to take the review in the last minute. The TV umpire ran a few checks as he spotted the ball had brushed the gloves and asked the on-field umpire to reverse the call. Sundar wasn’t happy with the call as he trudged back to the pavilion.

Even in the last game, Yashasvi Jaiswal was out caught behind on the final day of the MCG Test match. The decisions divided a lot of opinions, as the batter wasn’t happy with the decision and pleaded his case with the umpires. Some of the commentators questioned the call being made as the snicko didn’t show any edge off the gloves or the bat.
Australia bowls out India for 185 on day one of SCG Test
It seems the decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired, as Jasprit Bumrah’s side were all out for 185. India lost three wickets before lunch to be placed at 57/3 from 25 overs. Mitchell Starc got the wicket of KL Rahul for four, while Boland dismissed Jaiswal for 10. The last wicket of the session fell to Nathan Lyon, who dismissed Shubman Gill for 20 off 64 balls caught by Steve Smith.
Virat Kohli continued his woeful form, with the bat falling for just 17 runs. Scott Boland dismissed the former India skipper caught behind the wicket for the 7th time in the series. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja then added 48 runs for the 5th wicket, but tragedy struck soon after.
Scott Boland got the wickets of Pant for 40 and Nitish Reddy for a golden in successive balls. Skipper Jasprit Bumrah swung his bat to score 22 runs from 17 balls with 3 fours and a six before being the last man out. For the home side, Boland was the best bowler with figures of 4/31 from his 20 overs, while Mitchell Starc took three wickets.
