Lucknow Super Giants’ owner Sanjiv Goenka posted a throwback picture of Rajasthan Royals’ cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 14-year-old took the IPL and the cricket world by storm with his blistering 35-ball ton against Gujarat Titans on Monday night. Mr. Goenka took to his X handle on Tuesday morning and posted an eight-year-old picture of Suryavanshi with his father.
In that picture, the young cricketing sensation was held by his father. The youngster had worn Rising Pune Super Giants’ jersey (team earlier owned by Goenka). LSG’s owner wrote, “Last night I watched in awe… this morning I came across this photo of 6-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi cheering for my then team, Rising Pune Supergiant, in 2017. Thanks Vaibhav. Lots of good wishes and support.”

The 14-year-old’s ton was the fastest by an Indian batter, beating the previous best by Yusuf Pathan in 2010. Suryavanshi also became the youngest centurion in T20 cricket as well as the youngest to score a fifty in IPL cricket. The historic knock helped Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans by eight wickets with 25 balls to spare.
Ajay Jadeja fumes at Shubman Gill for his post-match comments on Suryavanshi’s ton
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja wasn’t pleased with GT skipper Shubman Gill’s comments at the end of the game. Gill, when asked by the host broadcasters to give his take on Suryavanshi’s knock, said, “It was his day. His hitting was just tremendous and he made full use of his day.”
Ajay Jadeja made his displeasure clear during the post-analysis on Jio Star and said, “But a 14-year-old to believe in himself, the amount that he believes in himself, and to take it that far, even if it's, you know, one day like some player on television just said, ‘oh, it was just his lucky day.’”
Speaking about the knock the world witnessed on Monday, Jadeja said, “All of us who played cricket dreamt of cricket in a certain way, either in our drawing rooms or when we were playing with our friends. This is what you dream of. At 14 and 15, all of us must have dreamt different things. But this is what you actually dream about. This man has gone out there and lived that dream there. There's power. He'll be analysed a hundred times.”
