India's lethal pacer, Umran Malik, is set to miss the upcoming Buchi Babu tournament 2024 for Jammu & Kashmir as he is down with dengue. With major cricketers participating in the tournament, Malik's presence will be missed. The player admitted that he was interested in playing in the tournament as it's one of the best domestic leagues in India.

Malik said, "I would have loved to play in the tournament, but I’m just recovering from dengue. I was fully prepared that season, but the weather didn’t help. Then I was looking forward to the IPL as I’d gained a lot in the months preceding the IPL. Unfortunately, even that didn’t go the way I wanted. But it also gave me the time to work on things I wanted to do in the practice sessions."

In the IPL 2022, Malik impressed the cricket world with his fast deliveries. He was one of India's fastest bowlers, but he lost his momentum due to injuries. It's common for a pacer to have injuries, but the frequency increased, disturbing his game and performance. Several players, including Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, will participate in the tournament for Mumbai and Jharkhand, respectively.

I’ve definitely become a better bowler if you ask me: Umran Malik

Umran Malik was talking about his fitness and injuries with the Indian Express and expressed his urge to come back to red-ball cricket. His red-ball cricket comeback is delayed due to several injuries, and now that he's down with dengue, playing cricket for a few months will be difficult. He would have played for Jammu and Kashmir in the Buchi Babu tournament.

"I’ve definitely become a better bowler if you ask me. After the IPL, I injured my hamstring and just as I recovered I’m down with dengue," added Umran Malik.
