Due to disciplinary issues and fitness, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has omitted Prithvi Shaw from the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Tripura. The MCA Secretary came forward with a blunt reply about Shaw's omission from the team and informed the press that he hasn't been taking the practice sessions quite seriously and is overweight. Hence, he is rested for a game where he can return to the basics and take care of these things before it's too late.

Well, this isn't the first time he has been under criticism. Shaw is someone who has scored some terrific knocks for India as well as in the domestic set-up. However, the controversies surrounding his behaviour have been consistent throughout his career. Hence, the MCA took strict action against him this time.

Let's check out the timeline of controversies for Prithvi Shaw:

November 2018- Lost spot in Indian team soon after making his debut

In 2018, Shaw made his debut for India during the Australia tour. After a few months, he sustained an injury during the tour and was sent back to India. However, some reports surfaced on the internet saying he lost his focus, and the management sent him back to make him understand the importance of the opportunity. Later, Shaw dismissed the reports.

July 2019- BCCI suspended him for taking unknown substances

The most unwanted thing ever done by the player was taking banned substances. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019, traces of terbutaline were detected in his urine sample, after which the Board suspended him for some time. However, Shaw came forward and clarified that he had taken cough syrup for a cold as prescribed by the doctor.

January 2020- Comeback was delayed in the Indian team due to misconduct in the Mumbai dressing room

Shaw had a good future ahead of him when he decided to ruin it with his unnecessary attitude in the Mumbai dressing room during the Ranji Trophy. The Mumbai team manager was extremely disappointed with Shaw's behaviour, which later affected his return to the Indian team. The manager didn't speak up about the incidents involved but reported the incident to the senior management.

December 2020- Got called out by Ajinkya Rahane for fake injury

In 2020, during the Test series in Australia, an incident happened which was narrated by India's former fielding coach R Sridhar. As per the former coach, Shaw was fielding at short-leg in a warm-up game in Drummoyne, Sydney, where the batter went to play the sweep shot, and the ball hit Shaw. He tried to limp and get back to the dressing room. However, Rahane saw the ball hit the shin pad and didn't allow Shaw to return to the dressing room.

May 2021- Broke Covid-19 Rules

The police stopped Shaw as he was travelling from Mumbai to Goa in his car without an e-pass, which was mandatory as India was under lockdown during the second wave. However, he got an e-pass later and was allowed to go.

March 2022- Failed the Yo-Yo Test

In 2022, right before the IPL, Shaw failed the Yo-Yo Test set by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He failed to meet the required score of 16.5 for men as his score was less than 15. Fitness was extremely important at that time before the T20 World Cup.

February 2023- Claims of molestation by influencer Sapna Gill

Prithvi Shaw faced accusations of molesting a social media media influencer, Sapna Gill, in February 2023 after a party. When Shaw was out having dinner with his friends, a group of people came and approached him for selfies. The group later smashed his car after he went back to the hotel. However, the police shut down the claims of molestation after an investigation.

October 2024- Omitted from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad due to disciplinary issues

Recently, Shaw was excluded from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy team against Tripura due to disciplinary issues and being overweight. The secretary came forward and informed everyone regarding the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA)'s decision.
