'Keeping the streak alive! Same story, different year' - Fans react as RCB gets knocked out of IPL 2024 after 4-wicket defeat against RR

RR will now take on SRH in the second qualifier for qualification for the Final of the tournament against KKR on May 26 in Chennai.

RR defeated RCB by a margin of 4 wickets in the Eliminator of the ongoing IPL 2024. The all-important match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and asked the RCB to bat first; batting first, the red and gold outfits posted a total of 172 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Virat Kohli and Cameron Green played the knocks of 33 and 27 runs, respectively followed by 34 and 32 runs scored by Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror.

RR pacer Avesh Khan scalped 3 wickets, alongside 2 wickets bagged by the veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Apart from Avesh and Ashwin, Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, and Yuzvendra Chahal also picked one wicket each.

While chasing the target, RR had a steady start of 46 runs for the first wicket from the opening pair Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom-Kohler Cadmore before the latter was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson at the individual score of 20 runs.

Later Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag also scored 45 and 36 runs, respectively followed by the crucial knocks of 26 and 16 runs by two Caribbeans, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell.

RCB tried to come back in the match with two quick wickets in the 18th over but they failed eventually, and RR chased down the target of 173 runs in just 16 overs, scoring 174 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and won the game by 4 wickets and one over to spare.

Star pacer RR Mohammed Siraj scalped 2 wickets for RCB in the second innings, alongside one wicket each bagged by Lockie Ferguson, Karn Sharma, and Cameron Green.

With this win by 4 wickets against RCB, RR have now qualified to the second qualifier of the tournament, where they’ll face the Sunrisers Hyderabad to qualify for the Final against KKR on May 26.
