Nair felt he was disappointed for not featuring in India's squad in the home series against the West Indies. While he respected the opinions of others, Nair felt he deserved to be in the squad. The middle-order batter claimed that he deserves a lot better after having performed in domestic cricket for two years.

"Obviously, it's quite disappointing to get dropped from the team, but I know that I deserve to be there after the last two years of domestic cricket I've had. People might’ve their own opinions, but personally, my opinion is that I deserve a lot better," Karun Nair said after his 174 against Goa in the Ranji Trophy 2025/26.

How did Karun Nair perform in the 2025 series against England?

Nair got a chance to play in four Tests in the series against England. The right-handed batter scored 205 runs in 8 innings at an average of 25.63, including a solitary fifty-plus score. In 5 of his 8 innings in the tour, Karun scored below 30 runs.

In the first Test, his scores were 0 and 20, respectively, which led to him getting dropped. He then played the last three Tests of the series, where his scores were 31, 26, 40, 14, 57, and 17. He was one of the batters who could not live up to the expectations in the series.
