Pakistan cricket team created yet another unwanted record on Friday in Multan. Shan Masood’s side became the first side in Test cricket history to score 550 runs in their 1st innings and lose by an innings. England won the first Test in Multan by an innings and 47 runs just before lunch on the final day of the game.

Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal tried to do their best with the bat to delay the inevitable. Jack Leach though proved to be the deciding factor as the left-arm spinner ran through the lower half of Pakistan’s batting. Abrar Ahmed was absent as he was admitted to hospital due to high fever.

With this win England extend their winning streak in Pakistan with 4 successive win in Test cricket. The last time the English had toured this part of the world, they had won all three games to register a huge series whitewash. The second Test is also set to be played at the same venue starting next week.

Pakistan registers yet another new low with huge Test loss in Multan

Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal came out to bat on the 5th day of Multan Test with the score reading 152/6. Pakistan were trailing by 115 runs in their 2nd innings to make the visitors bat again. Day began well for the home team as they saw Salman reach his fifty. The right-handed batter had scored a century in the 1st innings to help his side reach 556.

Jack Leach got England its first wicket of the day when he trapped Agha Salman LBW. The batter went up for DRS but the decision stayed with the bowler as Salman was out for 63. His knock came off 84 balls with the help of 7 fours.

Aamer Jamal making his return to Pakistan team after nearly 9 months was not out on 55 from 104 balls with 5 fours. Shaheen Afridi offered a simple return catch to Leach for 10 to put the visiting on the cusp of a huge win.
Naseem Shah hit his 2nd ball for a six to show he was ready to go down fighting.

England spinner Jack Leach though had the last laugh as he had Naseem Shah stumped for 6 to end the game. Ollie Pope and rest of England camp celebrated a huge win to take 1-0 lead in the series. Pakistan on the other hand became the first side to lose a Test with an innings margin despite scoring over 550 in their 1st innings.
