The star J&K pacer Umar Nazar Mir played a decisive role in dismantling Mumbai’s batting attack in the ongoing Ranji Trophy game at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Mir made it to the headlines for dismissing the India skipper and Mumbai’s batting stalwart, Rohit Sharma who is making a comeback in domestic cricket after a long wait of more than 9 years.
The J&K pacer created a big problem for Rohit while bowling with the new ball in the initial phase of the first innings of day 1 of the game. Eventually, Mir trapped Sharma when the latter was trying to play his favourite shot but the ball took the leading edge and went straight in the air towards the mid-off fielder.

However, the 31-year-old pacer was seen not celebrating after dismissing Rohit Sharma and he continued to trouble the Mumbai batters like his routine job to do.
Furthermore, Umar Nazir also revealed the reason behind not celebrating Rohit Sharma’s wicket. The bowler also mentioned his admiration for the Indian batting stalwart.
“I am a big fan of Rohit Sharma and that is why I didn’t celebrate after taking his wicket today,” said Mir to the Indian Express.
Speaking of the action of the game on day 1 of the Mumbai vs Haryana Ranji Trophy game, the hosts were bundled out at the score of just 120 runs in the first innings. J&K’s Umar Nazir Mir and Yudhvir Singh scalped 4 wickets each, alongside 2 wickets claimed by Auqib Nabi.
In response to Mumbai’s 120 runs, J&K had scored 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of day 1, taking a lead of 54 runs in the first innings.
Speaking of star pacer, Umar Nazir’s illustrious First-Class career for Jammu and Kashmir, he has played 57 First-Class games since he made his debut against Assam in the Ranji Trophy 2013-14. Since then, Mir has scalped 138 wickets in 87 innings, including 4 four-wicket hauls and six five-wicket hauls, including the best innings performance of ‘6 wickets at just 53 runs in an innings.’
Besides that, he has also claimed ‘9 wickets at 116 runs in a match’ as his best bowling figures in a match.
