The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah confirmed Rahul Dravid's official tenure as the coach ends in June. The Board is set to release advertisements for the coach's position but didn't mention any timeline for the same. Jay Shah also mentioned that the coach's tenure is for a long-term and will serve for an initial period of three years.

"Rahul's tenure is only up to June. So if he wants to apply, he is free to do so. We cannot determine whether the new coach will be Indian or foreign. It will be up to the CAC, and we are a global body. That decision will also be made by the CAC. There are many all-format players, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant, among others. Moreover, there is no precedent for such a situation in India," said Jay Shah.

This is indeed a piece of great news for Indian cricket as a new coach will join soon. Moreover, if the Board appoints any foreign players, it will be beneficial for the team to pick up foreign training methods which will help them in the long run.

'It was a test case' - Jay Shah on Impact player rule

Jay Shah also spoke about the Impact Player rule which was introduced this year. Since it wasn't favouring the all-rounders, most of the players opposed it including India skipper Rohit Sharma. Moreover, Shah mentioned that they will talk to the owners after the end of the IPL 2024 and discuss the future of this rule.

"Impact player was a test case. Two new Indian players are getting a chance in the IPL. We will discuss with the stakeholders - franchises and broadcasters - before deciding on the continuation of the Impact Player. It's not permanent, but no one has provided feedback against the rule," said Jay Shah.
