Jasprit Bumrah (Source: X)
Jasprit Bumrah is currently the best bowler in the world and there is no doubt about it. However, not many know the story of his discovery by the Mumbai Indians (MI) before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 season. India's former coach, John Wright, revealed the story of Bumrah and his discovery.
During an interview with the Times of India, Wright spoke about how he saw Bumrah during a domestic game in 2013. The former coach said, "I saw this kid with an unusual action trying to bowl 12 consecutive yorkers. I thought, 'Bloody hell, I've never seen that before.' And he was quick." At that time, Bumrah was playing for Gujarat and Parthiv Patel was the captain.
When Wright had a chat with Parthiv regarding Bumrah, he said, 'That's Boom.' MI were super excited about the bowler and hence, they signed him right away. Wright said, "We signed him straight away; back then, you didn't have to go through an auction."
Bumrah then bowled to Sachin Tendulkar in the nets and the veteran batter found him difficult to understand. That was the winning moment for the bowler. Post that, he played for MI in 2013 and 14 but didn't get to play a lot of games. However, going ahead, he became the best bowler in the world.
Jasprit Bumrah gives a tough time to Australia, claims three wickets
Jasprit Bumrah has turned into a nightmare for the Australian batters in the ongoing D/N Test match. He dismissed three batters and put pressure on them. Despite the hosts' terrific attempt to play the bowler well, he somehow claimed three wickets, bowling at an impressive length. He was accompanied by Nitish Reddy, who took the wicket of Marnus Laguschagne.
The batter was playing on 68 runs when Reddy deceived him. At tea, Australia are 191 runs at the loss of four wickets. They have already taken the lead by 11 runs. Indian bowlers must pull up their socks and start bowling well to win the game.
