Indian cricket star Jasprit Bumrah became the third Indian pacer to get 50 Test wickets in a single calendar year. Bumrah, who is celebrating his 31st birthday on Friday got the wicket of Usman Khawaja to achieve this feat. Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev has achieved the feat twice. The last Indian pacer to achieve this feat was Zaheer Khan, who picked 51 wickets in 2002. Team India still has two Test matches to play this year with the third Test match in Brisbane and the fourth Test in Melbourne to close out the year. In the previous game, Bumrah had led the side in Perth and taken 8 wickets which included a fifer.

Bumrah made his Test debut in 2018 during the tour of South Africa. Since then the right-arm pacer has been a key part of the Indian team across all three formats. The 31-year-old is currently leading India’s bowling unit in Mohammed Shami’s absence. The visiting side came to Adelaide with a 1-0 lead after winning the 1st Test by 295 runs.
