Indian Cricket fans have some great news, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set for imminent return to cricket. The right-arm pacer last played for India in the T20I World Cup final versus South Africa. According to reports doing the rounds, Bumrah is set to make his return for the two-match series against Bangladesh.

It was earlier believed that Bumrah would not be available for the series. The decision seems to have been made considering the uncertainty over the fitness of fast bowler Mohammed Shami.

The reports carried by Indian Express quoted an unnamed BCCI source and said, “We cannot rest everyone at one go because you need experience, even in home conditions. Like in the case of the England series, where India paired a senior pacer with a youngster, a similar approach would be adopted.”

The return of Jasprit Bumrah will be a huge boost for the Indian cricket team. The BCCI source, while speaking to Indian Express, also said, “Here is a good crop of fast bowlers at the Duleep Trophy who have been picked keeping the Australia tour in mind. If they do well, we can use them in home conditions before taking them to Australia.”

New Zealand pacer Tim Southee, meanwhile, has hailed Jasprit Bumrah as the best pacer across all formats. The veteran Kiwi pacer was quoted as saying by IANS, “He’s been incredible to obviously to be able to firstly bounce back from the major injury he had come back and he’s even better than what he was beforehand and then throw in on top of that having to juggle multiple formats can be difficult at times as well and he seems to have been able to that with that ease.”

The Kiwi pacer also said, “He’s probably more experienced, understands his game a bit more, he probably had that time when he was injured to come back and be recharged, refreshed and I think we have seen a great version of Jasprit Bumrah across all three formats.”

Post the series against Bangladesh, the Indian side will take on New Zealand in a three-match Test series. There could be a tantalizing contest on the cards as Tim Southee and Jasprit Bumrah will go against each other.
