Jasprit Bumrah created history in the ongoing 1st Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. The stand-in captain and pace bowler bowled brilliantly on day one against Australia and ended the day claiming 4 wickets. He took his fifth wicket on his very first ball of the second day. In Test cricket, Bumrah now has a total of 11 fifers out of which seven have come in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries.
He has joined the legendary Kapil Dev in terms of most five-wicket hauls in SENA countries as both have seven five-wicket hauls. Bumrah has taken three fifers in South Africa, and two in England and Australia respectively. The captain is having the time of his life by being the best bowler in the team.

After getting bowled out for just 150 runs, India showed a fighting spirit with the ball, reducing Australia to 94-9. Bumrah claimed a fifer while Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets. However, Mitchell Starc is haunting the visitors with the bat as the player refuses to throw away his wicket. Currently, Starc is batting on 19 runs in 60 balls and looking quite comfortable on Perth's pitch.
If you can get through the testing period it does get slightly easier: Mitchell Starc
After the conclusion of day one, Mitchell Starc spoke about how the day went and how the pitch behaved throughout the game. As per the fast bowler, persistence is extremely important on Perth's pitch as 'it gets easier with time'. Australia had a good time with the bowl but struggled thoroughly with the bat.
"If you can get through the testing period it does get slightly easier. That being said the outfield is quite slow and that probably made the runs a bit hard to come by and probably the slowest outfield we have seen in the West (Australia) for a long time," said Mitchell Starc.
