Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, expressed his profound sadness over the terrible stampede in Bengaluru that killed 11 people during the RCB's celebrations. He said that he had never been a supporter of roadshows for triumph events since they might endanger lives. Nearly 2.5 lakh spectators flooded the stadium grounds, causing pandemonium and a deadly stampede, even though the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had tickets and was in charge of the event.
The young men and women who died ranged in age from 13 to 35. Four fatalities were recorded at Vydehi Hospital, one at Manipal Hospital, and six at Bowring Hospital. During his media appearance, Gautam Gambhir stated his long-held belief that such open-road festivities are superfluous. "Lives are more important, and I will continue to say that even in the future. In the future, we should be a little bit more aware of having these road shows. We can probably be a little bit aware of not having these road shows. We can have these (celebrations) inside closed doors or in a stadium. It's very tragic,” he said.
He also prays for families who have suffered and was against the road show, “My heart goes out to the families and the loved ones of the victims. I hope, in the future, nothing like this happens. We shouldn't have done that. You can't, at any point, lose 11 people. For me, the road show should not have happened," Gambhir said while addressing the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai.

Every life matters - Gautam Gambhir after the stampede
Gambhir asked organizers to be more careful and called for a reconsideration of how teams celebrate with supporters. “Can't say whether the fan base has increased or all that. All I can say is we need to be responsible citizens. We need to be responsible in every aspect, whether being a franchise or everything. Every life matters. If you are not ready to hold a roadshow, you shouldn't have done that. As simple as it can get," he said.
Earlier on Thursday, RCB said that it will establish an RCB Cares fund to help the "fans injured in this tragic incident" and provide "financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased." The families of those killed in the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium would each receive Rs 5 lakh, according to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
