New Zealand's Kane Williamson is one of the most humble cricketers in the world who gives credit to players where it's due. After landing in Noida for an on-off Test match against Afghanistan, Williamson was called in for an interview where he was asked about the recent performance of Joe Root. The Kiwi batter praised Root for his brilliant performance and mentioned that he is a fan of his batting and was happy that he has been receiving appreciation from people.

"You mentioned Joe Root. He has been something else for a long period of time. Obviously, there is a lot of attention on what he might be able to achieve in a number of years and it’s just incredible that that conversion can even be had. He has been phenomenal. I have been a big fan of his. Not just him, but the other guys as well, amazing how they have sort of moved the game forward in a big way," said Kane Williamson while talking to the reporters in Noida.

Root is on his way to easily break Sachin Tendulkar's red-ball cricket records. The best part about his success is that he is humble enough not to consider any praise and appreciation coming his way. The 33-year-old batter focuses on scoring more runs and winning matches for his team. So far, Root has scored 12390 runs at an average of 50.77 in 156 games.

Having six Test matches together is a big part of our calendar: Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson spoke about the upcoming series and the back-to-back Test matches against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and India. While it will be hectic for the players, they still enjoy playing a lot of long-form matches in a single year. Now that the WTC 2025 cycle is going on, players are excited and pumped up to give their best for the team.

"In some ways, it’s like a tournament sport, even though it’s over a long period of time in the Test championship. Naturally, having six Test matches together is a big part of our calendar. It’s one that we are very excited about," added Williamson.
