In the fourth ball of the 19th over, Chahal saw Deepak Hooda’s lofted shot being pouched by Priyansh Arya. In the very next ball, Anshul Kamboj was beaten by a flat delivery to see his stumps disturbed. The hat-trick came when Noor Ahmad went for a big shot and Maro Jansen settled under the ball and took an easy catch. Once the hat-trick was achieved, Chahl gave his trademark pose, much to the delight of his teammates.

Speaking to IPL’s official handle, the veteran spinner expressed his delight post his performance and said, “It is a lifetime achievement when you think about such moments”. During the course of the chat, Chahal also spoke about the celebrations and recounted his first IPL hat-trick. The 34-year-old achieved this feat for the first time when he was part of the Rajasthan Royals against Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders.

Punjab Kings’ win sends CSK out of the IPL 2025 tournament

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first as Chennai Super Kings managed to score 190 on the board. Former PBKS star Sam Curran was the best batter for the home side, scoring a career-best 88 runs from 47 balls. Dewald Brevis continued his start to life in CSK with a 26-ball 32.

Chasing 191 to win, PBKS achieved the win with four wickets and two balls to spare. Young Prabhsimran Singh began well by scoring 54 runs from 36 balls with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. Shreyas Iyer, who was later named man of the match top scored with a 41-ball 72, which contained five hits to the fence and four huge sixes.

This loss now puts Chennai Super Kings out of the tournament with just two wins from 10 games so far. This is also the first time in the history of IPL that CSK hasn’t managed to make it to the top four places in the points table in consecutive seasons. CSK now face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their next encounter on Saturday night. MS Dhoni and his side have nothing to play for as the five-time IPL champions get ready for their final stretch of the tournament.
