Meanwhile, during his appearance on the show 'Dressing Room,' Wasim Akram expressed his dissatisfaction and urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make drastic changes to the team right once. Akram also trolled the players for having too many bananas during the drinks break and compared them to monkeys.

“Drastic steps are needed. We have been playing archaic cricket in white-ball formats for ages. This needs to change. Bring in fearless cricketers, and young blood into the team. If you have to make five changes, please make them,” Akram said. Talking about the drinks break, Akram said, “During the second water break, there were so many bananas in the plate." Funnily, he also said, “even monkeys don't eat this many bananas.”

The loss on Sunday was Pakistan's second straight Champions Trophy 2025 loss, and they haven't defeated India in ODIs since 2018. In addition to skipper Mohammad Rizwan, the PCB selection committee, which includes Aleem Dar, Aaqib Javed, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Hassan Cheema, has come under fire after Pakistan's batters, bowlers, and fielders failed to shine during the tournament.

Begin assembling the 2026 T20 World Cup squad: Wasim Akram

"Enough is enough. With these guys, we had been losing at white-ball for a few years. Now is the moment to act bravely. What is the daring move? Bring youthful players and bold cricketers to play white ball cricket, as Waqar Younis suggested. Make the necessary adjustments, even if it means losing for the next six months and helping those guys. From now on, begin assembling the 2026 T20 World Cup squad," Akram stated.

He anticipates several roster changes more than a year before the 2026 T20 World Cup. He wants Pakistani cricket to abandon its star culture. Pakistan is inches away from being eliminated. If New Zealand defeats Bangladesh they will go out of the home tournament.
