'It was a wonderful batting performance...' - Rohit Sharma receives special award after MI's first win in IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals

The 20th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was an interesting match as MI won their first match of the season. They defeated DC by 29 runs after putting up a mammoth total of 235 runs. Moreover, former MI captain Rohit Sharma was given a special award for his batting performance in MI's first win in IPL 2024.

He scored 49 runs off 27 balls including six boundaries and three sixes. This was one of his best innings as he played fearlessly putting up an 80-run partnership with Ishan Kishan (42). Both the batters gave MI the start they needed the most in this season. Mumbai Indians posted a short video on their Instagram account while Rohit was given the award and a short speech.

The Pandya-led side finally won a match out of four matches that were played in this season. Moreover, after losing two straight matches in the Wankhade Stadium, they got victory in their third match in Mumbai. It was a collective batting effort from the team, however, the bowlers need to gear up a bit as they conceded a lot more runs than they should have. 

'Belief and backing each other is the attitude out there...' - Captain Hardik Pandya after winning the match

After getting the much-needed breakthrough in the tournament, Captain Hardik Pandya takes a sigh of relief. While discussing the dressing room atmosphere at the post-match presentation, Hardik mentioned the love and caring players have for each other. As per the captain, this was one of the reasons behind their successful win in the match against Delhi Capitals. 

"There's a lot of love and care going around in the changeroom. Belief and backing each other is the attitude out there. Everyone believed we needed just one win. It was an amazing start today, always wonderful to get 70-odd in 6 overs. The way everyone chipped in when the opportunity was coming was good to see," said Pandya at the post-match presentation.
