Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra took a jibe at Virat Kohli for his terrible performance in the recent red-ball series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. In the last ten innings, Kohli has scored just 192 runs which is absolutely low.

Even though it feels like the peak Kohli era is getting over sooner than expected, the expectations of him scoring runs remain in the hearts of the Indians. Moreover, Chopra pointed out that taking Kohli's wicket has become easy for the bowlers as his aggressiveness has decreased over time.

"Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, or Sir Vivian Richards, these players have an aura that once they come to bat, they would dictate. That sort of aura used to be there when Virat Kohli used to come. When Virat Kohli comes now, it seems like he can be dismissed without any issues. I am not saying that. You can see that from the opposing team's body language," said Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Undoubtedly, Kohli is one of the best batters ever produced in the game of cricket, but his declining form has become a matter of concern for the management and the fans. Now that the BGT series is coming up in less than 20 days, the severity of the game has increased.

So the heart beats fast if you see Kohli's 2024: Aakash Chopra

With repeated failures throughout the year, people have started doubting Kohli's strength in the field. He started the year by not playing against England and then hasn't scored in any series that he has been a part of. As per Aakash Chopra, Kohli's error in judgment is the reason behind his consistent failures this year. While the BGT series will give him an opportunity to prove to the world how phenomenal he is, a failure will only increase the criticism.

"This year, even if you see the T20 World Cup, he was outstanding in the final, he is God's child, but he didn't score runs apart from that, and that is a reality. He didn't score runs on the Sri Lanka tour. So the heart beats fast if you see Kohli's 2024," added Chopra.
