Speaking on CRICBUZZ, the 39-year-old said “It pretty much sums up Rohit Sharma as a person. Very humorous about it but at the same time sending the message across: 'Don't be in a hurry to ask for my retirement. I'll do it when I feel like it”.

The former India star also while speaking about Kohli had said “They just know what it takes to do well in big matches. In the lead-up to a game, there are so many thoughts going on. But the way they channel those thoughts and use that energy on the field is what makes them special”

‘Leaving behind legacy like MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev’ – Dinesh Karthik on Rohit Sharma

The Champions Trophy title win last season was the second successive ICC trophy win for India under Rohit Sharma. The 37-year-old had also led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup win beating South Africa in the finals. Speaking to the media, Rohit had said in Dubai "I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumours are spread moving forward”

During his chat with CRICBUZZ, Dinesh Karthik went onto add “Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest, no doubt. He’s leaving a serious legacy. Each of them, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev marked a generational change and a mindset shift”. The 37-year-old has left with his family for a short holiday.

Rohit will next be seen playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL as the five-time winners will take on Chennai Super Kings in their opening match. Hardik Pandya has been banned for the game, while Jasprit Bumrah is set to resume his cricketing action in the early part of April. It is believed that Bumrah will miss a few games for MI as he is currently back into shape for the coming season.
