Former English pace bowler James Anderson had a remarkable career in red-ball cricket. The 42-year-old bowler retired from international cricket in June 2024, which was an emotional moment for the entire cricket fraternity.

He's one of the fittest players who could have given tough competition to the young players of the current generation. However, the England Cricket Board (ECB) clarified that they are looking for fresh talents for the upcoming Ashes, and Anderson might have no future in the team.

After that, Anderson decided to retire from red-ball cricket. While he has explored all the forms of cricket, the greatest bowler of all time hasn't tried his hand at franchise cricket. Anderson admitted that he hasn't played franchise cricket and might give it a shot. "I watch the Hundred and see the ball swinging around in the first 20 balls and I think: 'I can do that, I can still do that.' I don't know if that is a viable option, to maybe see if I could do a job in white-ball cricket. Franchise cricket is something I've never done," said Anderson.

This clarification might indicate Anderson's participation in the upcoming IPL 2025. It's the only thing left in his career to explore, and with his fitness, he will enjoy playing the franchise leagues worldwide. Now that he's retired, the ECB won't have any issue with him playing in the leagues, either. So it's a win-win situation for him and the leagues.

England moves up in the WTC points table

England has finally moved up the WTC points table after winning a Test series against West Indies in their backyard. They were in the last position of the table before the series but now have won six games out of 13 and are at a win percentage of 36.54. Their fantastic performance throughout the series is the reason behind their success.

Now, if they win their upcoming games in a row, they will be strong contenders for qualifying for the WTC Finals. For now, India is at the top position with six wins out of nine games, and Australia is right below them with eight wins out of 12 games.
