Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions have been witnessing some massive names being brought. However, auctioneer Mallika Sagar has been under focus for two huge mistakes. It has come to light that two teams had to pay extra for players they purchased during the course of the auction.

The first gaffe happened when Jos Buttler was being contested for. Former champions Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants were involved in the bidding. The Titans had bid INR 15.50 Crores and this is when Lucknow wanted some time. After the discussion, Mallika Sagar asked if LSG wanted to raise their bid.

When LSG declined, Ms Sagar sold the player to Gujarat Titans for INR 15.75 Crores. This was an incorrect amount as the Titans had bid just INR 15.5 Crores. The next player in question was Abhinav Manohar, who was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 3.2 crores. Chennai Super Kings had pulled out from the bid and Mallika Sagar sold the players to SRH for the final amount, 20 Lakhs more than the quoted price.

Parthiv Patel revels in Jos Buttler joining Gujarat Titans

Former Indian star Parthiv Patel is working with Gujarat Titans as their assistant coach. The 39-year-old shared his joy at Jos Buttler joining the Titans ahead of the IPL 2025 season. England’s white-ball skipper has played with Patel during their time together at Mumbai Indians.

39-year-old Patel, while speaking after the auction, as quoted by espncricinfo, said, “Very happy to have Jos Buttler in our side. He can bat anywhere, he can keep as well, he can help Shubman also. We wanted to buy our no. 1 bowler and no. 1 batter from the marquee set and we have both."

Vikram Solanki, who is the director of cricket with the franchise, said, “We've very happy with the team we've got. There's a small number of players in these first two sets and we played our part, according to our plan. The team is starting to take shape but we still need to fill slots and be smart. Actually, a number of very good players come tomorrow as well."
