Aakash Chopra reviewed some of KKR's top buys from the IPL 2026 auction in his YouTube Channel. The former KKR player noted that the management backed Matheesha Pathirana heavily despite concerns about his fitness and form. He wasn't surprised about the 3-time champions going for Cameron Green and Mustafizur Rahman in the auction.
In his YouTube Channel, Chopra noted that KKR went heavy on Pathirana. He noted the concerns about the Sri Lankan's form and injuries but felt KKR was confident managing him. He also claimed that Mustafizur was picked more as a backup option for the unorthodox pacer.

"They have placed a massive bid on Pathirana. There is an injury concern, and a bigger concern of form, but they said it doesn't matter, that they would be able to manage, and that they needed him. So, they went till ₹18 crore. That was absolutely phenomenal. After that, they needed a backup, that if Pathirana isn't fit, or isn't in form, or is bowling wides, they have Mustafizur Rahman as well," Chopra said.

Chopra claimed Pathirana's auction price to be phenomenal. He further added that KKR going for Green was obvious, given they had a lot of purse amount. Aakash praised his guess of CSK pushing his price hard till INR 25 crores. He noted that KKR got him in the end around INR 25 crores.

"Everyone knew and it wasn't a hidden thing that Cameron Green would go towards KKR. We had already said that Cameron Green is a knight. My good guess was that CSK would push them till ₹25 crore, and they pushed them till there only," Aakash added.
