IPL 2025: The best spinner from every team who can be a game-changer

In just under three days, the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to start. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who are the defending champions, will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their first encounter. Over the course of the next two months, some of the biggest names in the cricketing world will be in action. 

As the tournament goes on, the role of the spinners will be the key. The slower bowlers will hold the key and decide the outcome of the game. IPL matches in the second half of the tournament have seen some of the best spinners in the league take key wickets. Batters, thanks to the slow nature of the wickets, tend to find it difficult to score runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders- Varun Chakravarthy

Defending IPL champions KKR head into the season with a team that is mixed with experienced stars and newbies. The 33-year-old can be one of IPL 2025's best spinners after his amazing performances for India in the last few weeks. Chakravarthy, was a key player for KKR last season, taking 21 wickets, which is his best ever haul in IPL history. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad—Adam Zampa 

IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad have roped in Australian spin sensation, Adam Zampa for the coming season. The 32-year-old has played 20 games in the league and picked 29 wickets with a best of 6/19, which came during his time with Rising Pune Super Giants. Zampa has picked 361 wickets in the T20 format and has been one of the best spinners in the format for a while now. 

Mumbai Indians—Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Young Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was draughted into the side to replace Allah Ghazanfar for the coming season. The 23-year-old has picked up 19 wickets in the league from 19 matches. Young Mujeeb has been in good form during the SA20 league, where he picked 14 wickets for Paarl Royals. The young Afghanistan spin sensation can be a game changer for the Mumbai Indians and potentially help them win their sixth IPL title with his variations and wicket-taking ability. 

Chennai Super Kings: Ravichandran Ashwin

 With all the experience Ashwin has, the 38-year-old has to be IPL 2025's best spinner. Ashwin makes his return to Chennai for the first time since 2015 and will reunite with MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. The veteran spinner has played 212 matches and picked 180 wickets and his local knowledge of the conditions in Chennai and across India at this time of the year can be seen as a game changer. 

Punjab Kings—Yuzvendra Chahal

The best spinner in IPL 2025 who can be the biggest game changer for his side is none other than Yuzvendra Chahal. The 34-year-old is the leading wicket taker in the league and became the first man to pick 200 wickets. Lucknow Super Giants—Ravi Bishnoi 

Young Ravi Bishnoi has always been seen as the future of Indian spin bowling. The 24-year-old has already become a key member of the Indian T20I side. Bishnoi was retained by LSG ahead of the coming season to show how much the team values him. Rishabh Pant is known to be a captain who uses his spinners well and this will be the key as Bishnoi could be a potential game changer for his side. 

Gujarat Titans-Rashid Khan 

When it comes to naming the best spinner in IPL 2025, look no further than Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan maestro has tied up the best batters in the business with his guile and pace. Rashid had a below-par season with the ball last season for the Gujarat Titans and will look to perform a turnaround with the ball. The leg-spinner has already won the SA20 league this year and will want to carry on his form during the IPL 2025 season as well. 

Delhi Capitals—Kuldeep Yadav 

When one speaks about game changers, there is no one bigger than Kuldeep Yadav. The 30-year-old has been in outstanding form with the ball as seen during the Champions Trophy 2025 season. Kuldeep will be a key player for Axar Patel in the coming season with his variations and his ability to take wickets during key junctures of the game.
