He will become the fourth Indian to play the 400 T20 matches in his career, before Dhoni, the former MI skipper and batting stalwart, Rohit Sharma (456), former RCB batter Dinesh Karthik (412) and the RCB’s batting stalwart, Virat Kohli (408).

Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to win five titles in the Indian Premier League's history since the tournament’s inception in 2008. He has also led the team to become the joint-most successful team in the tournament's history, alongside the Mumbai Indians.

A glorious journey across T20s and T20 internationals

Speaking of his glorious T20 career, Dhoni has scored 7566 runs in 399 games, with a decent batting average of 38.02, hitting 28 half-centuries. Besides that, he has also impressed everyone with his brilliant work, executing 227 catches and 91 stumpings.

Apart from this, Dhoni has also left a mark in the T20 internationals, scoring 1617 in 85 innings of the 98 matches he played, having an average of 37.60, hitting two half-centuries. 18 years back, he also led India to win the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007, which was also the inaugural edition of the prestigious cricket biennial.

Notably, the Chennai Super Kings are struggling with a dismal run of form, with only two wins and six defeats in their eight games so far. They are placed at the bottom of the tournament’s points table. In the last five games, they have won only 1 game while losing four games, including the most recent defeat against MI by a big margin of 9 wickets.
