IPL 2025: Here’s why Gujarat Titans are going to wear lavender jerseys in their game vs LSG on Thursday

Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their penultimate match of the IPL 2025 season’s league phase. The Shubman Gill-led side will be sporting lavender kersey for the game that is set to be played on Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The special initiative was announced by the team a few days ago on social media. 

The Titans are set to sport these special jerseys as support for cancer survivors. This is the third successive season that the Titans will be sporting the lavender jersey. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also sport a green jersey once a year. The move is to support the ‘Go Green’ campaign. 

GT’s COO, Arvinder Singh, while speaking about the initiative, said, “This is the third consecutive year Gujarat Titans are batting for the cause of cancer awareness. We're glad to have our fans by our side who have shown consistent support in echoing the message for early diagnosis and preemptive care for cancer. On May 22, Ahmedabad will echo the message of solidarity from thousands of spectators in the fight against cancer, as we aim to bring about awareness that cancer, in any form, can be fought and defeated with proper care.”

Shubman Gill lauds partnership with Sai Sudharsan

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill has praised his partnership with Sai Sudharsan during the course of the season. Titans beat Delhi Capitals by ten wickets to take the top spot in the points table and also qualify for the playoffs. If the Titans win on Thursday, they will secure themselves a top two finish in the league phase. 

Speaking to Jio Hotstar, Gill said, “I think the way we bat is not exactly similar, but the left-right combination helps. We both run very well between the wickets, and we’re the kind of players who like to outsmart the opponent, including the bowlers.” Sudharsan scored 108 not out against DC, while Gill scored an unbeaten 93. 

Shubman Gill also credited coach Ashish Nehra for his role in Titan’s amazing run so far this season. “I think Ashish Nehra had a clear vision when Gujarat Titans came in during the first year. He knew how he wanted to build the team and define player roles. His communication with the players both on and off the field has been excellent”.
