In what seems to be a major piece of development about the ‘suspended’ Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), the final of the tournament is likely to be played at a different venue from the originally scheduled one. The reports understand that the BCCI could take this decision owing to the unfavourable weather forecasts at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which was decided as the venue for the IPL 2025.

In the same vein, the tournament's summit clash might be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The biggest stadium in the world has already hosted the finals of two IPL editions, in 2022 and 2023, respectively. So, if poor weather forecasts prevail in Kolkata, the IPL final is set to be played at the revised venue.

"The tournament will be restarted soon" – Rajeev Shukla on IPL 2025 resumption

Notably, the ongoing IPL 2025 was declared suspended for one week by the Board of Control for Cricket in India owing to the cross-border conflict between India and Pakistan. The board is now waiting for clearance from the Indian government after the ceasefire was achieved at the border between the two nuclear-armed foes.

“No decision has been taken yet. The BCCI officials are working on the situation. The tournament was suspended for a week, and yesterday there was a ceasefire. The tournament will be restarted soon,” BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by the Mint.

The reports also understand that the Indian cricket board is planning to restart the ‘suspended’ league by Friday, May 16 or Saturday, May 17. If the tournament resumes, LSG will host RCB in the first match after resumption.

Speaking of the stance of IPL teams on the tournament’s resumption, two teams, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad, are back on the ground. The players of both teams have restarted their training. Shubman Gill’s GT became the first team to resume training amidst the tournament’s ‘suspension’ and speculation on the restart.
