In what seems to be a major development, the table toppers, Gujarat Titans, have resumed their training amidst the IPL 2025 suspension. Notably, the tournament was suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to the escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the BCCI reportedly started considering resuming the remainder of the tournament shortly after both countries agreed to a ceasefire after a cross-border struggle for almost three to four days.
In the same line of events, the IPL 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans, became the first team to restart the training session amidst the reports of IPL 2025 resumption. The team, led by the star batter Shubman Gill, started their training on Sunday evening at their home ground, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
“Yes, we have started training, the boys looked sharp and we are ready to go,” a GT official was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Furthermore, the official also revealed that GT’s entire squad participated in the team’s first training session after the tournament’s suspension, except for the two foreign stars, in former England skipper Jos Buttler and star Proteas pacer Gerald Goetzee. The GT official also spoke about the possibility of the return of Buttler and Gerald to India.
“Our entire squad stuck around. Only Jos and Gerald, but they will come back as required,” the official added later.
Shubman Gill’s men enjoyed an amazing run of form in the tournament before it was suspended on Friday, May 9. They are placed in the top spot in the tournament standings, with eight wins while losing only three in their 11 games, having 19 points to their name in the tournament.
In their last five games in the tournament till May 6 before suspension, they had won four games while losing only one. It also included their narrow 3-wicket win against the Mumbai Indians in their last game.
