In what seems to be a big update for the CSK fans, all overseas players are set to return to be a part of the team for the remainder of the IPL 2025. The tournament is set to resume from May 17 onwards, and the five-time champions CSK will play against Delhi Capitals on May 20. It will be their first game after the tournament’s resumption following a suspension due to cross-border rifts between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, also confirmed that all foreign players of CSK except for star England all-rounder Jamie Overton, will return for the tournament’s remaining part.
“All CSK foreign players barring Jamie Overton are expected to join the squad ahead of IPL resumption,” said Viswanathan to news agency PTI.
CSK’s horrific run in IPL 2025 concerns management
Notably, the yellow outfits have already been knocked out of the tournament, owing to a horrific run of form in the tournament. They are currently placed in the 10th spot on the tournament standings, with only three wins and nine defeats in their 12 games, having only six points to their credit.
Besides that, the CSK CEO had also spoken about the highly-asked question, and that was about the IPL retirement of the CSK skipper and the legendary wicketkeeper-batter, MS Dhoni. He said that Dhoni hasn’t conveyed anything to the management regarding any call on his IPL career and association with CSK.
“It's his call, we will never tell him anything. If he makes a decision, he will inform us. He hasn’t told us anything,” Viswanathan had said to RevSportz earlier this month.
Notably, this season has been a nightmare for the multi-time champions as they struggled to win even at their home ground in Chennai. Besides that, the team underwent a captaincy change in the middle of the tournament when the regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to an injury.
