IPL 2025 Captains' Salaries: Highest and Lowest Paid IPL Leaders list

The 18th Indian Premier League (IPL) is just one week away from starting, and teams are already started doing preparations.  During the November 2024 mega auction, where players scored huge deals and multiple records were broken, teams assembled their squads.  In addition, several teams purchased a few players at the IPL 2025 auction and switched captains for the season.

After being released by their respective teams during the 2024 Indian Premier League, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer both surpassed the INR 25 crore milestone.  By signing a record-breaking Rs. 27 crore contract with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rishabh Pant created history.  He was also given the captaincy for the 2025 Indian Premier League by the team.  After Delhi Capitals (DC) used their Right to Match (RTM) card, LSG stepped up their bid for Pant to INR 27 crore.

While Punjab Kings grabbed Shreyas Iyer for Rs. 26.75 crores in the mega auction. Shreyas Iyer won the IPL title with KKR in 2024 but the team did not retain him for next season. Shreyas Iyer has now reunited with Ricky Pointing, who is a coach for Punjab Kings. The last time the duo worked together was in 2020 with Delhi Capitals and Shreyas Iyer led the team to the finals of the IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad will again be led by Pat Cummins. During the last season under his captaincy, SRH made it to the finals of 2024 but lost to KKR. This season SRH retained him for Rs.18 crore and expects another record-breaking season.

While Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad were retained by their respective team for Rs. 18 crores. For the fifth time, Sanju Samson will be leading Rajasthan Royals in IPL. This is the second time  Ruturaj Gaikwad will be captain of Chennai Super Kings. He captained CSK in 14 games won 7 games and lost 7 games.  Shubman Gill and Axar Patel are both retained by the team for Rs. 16.5 crores. Since Hardik Pandya left for Mumbai Indians in 2024 Gujarat Titans named Shubman Gill as their captain.

Recently Delhi Capitals named Axar Patel as their captain after retaining him. He is the key player for the team after his performance with both bat and ball. Mumbai Indians have again trusted Hardik Pandya after finishing in the last position in IPL 2024. Before the start of IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya left Gujarat Titans and joined Mumbai Indians after leaving the team in 2022. Mumbai Indians retained the core team for IPL 2025 and Hardik Pandya was part of it. He was retained for 16.35 crores and will be captain of the team for IPL 2025. 

 Ajinkya Rahane lowest paid captain in IPL 2025

Rajat Patidar and Ajinkya Rahane are the only two players who are less paid as captain for IPL 2025. This season for the first time Rajat Patidar will be captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He was retained by the team for Rs. 11 crores. Ajinkya Rahane who joined Kolkata Knight Riders during the mega auction for Rs. 1.5 crore was named as captain of IPL 2025. His performance in recent times as led the pathway to led KKR.
