The dismissal of Sanju Samson has ignited controversy as the fans have divided into two opinion groups on the catch taken by Shai Hope at the boundary line.

Twitter divided into two groups of opinions after the controversial ‘boundary-catch’ dismissal of Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson against DC in the 56th match of the ongoing IPL 2024. RR were looking in a comfortable position at the score of 162 runs losing 3 wickets in 15.3 overs.

On the fourth ball of the 16th over, Sanju lofted the ball for a six towards the long-on boundary but the DC fielder Shai Hope didn’t make a mistake in executing a brilliant catch very close near the boundary line. However, the decision was referred to the third umpire and eventually, the third umpire declared Samson ‘out’.

Meanwhile, the RR skipper Samson was seen having a conversation with the field umpire; RR’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara was also seen in a dismay following this decision. DC Owner Parth Jindal was also seen reacting to this dismissal which didn't go down well with a lot of fans who reacted on social media. The fans also came up with a lot of divided reactions on X (formerly Twitter) while reacting to this ‘controversial dismissal’.

Speaking of the result of the match, DC emerged victorious by 20 runs in this all-important and must-win game for them to stay alive in contention for the playoff stage of the tournament.
