Delhi Capitals (DC) won their 6th game of the season as they beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a pulsating game on Tuesday night. The win has also put Rishabh Pant and his side in the race for the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL)2024 season. 

Rishabh Pant and his Delhi Capitals batted first and scored 221 runs from 20 overs with Abhishek Porel and Jake Fraser-McGurk scoring fifties. Chasing 222 to win, Sanju Samson waged a lone battle but the Capitals bowlers showed their might to win the game for their side.

5. Ravichandran Ashwin -3/24 from 4 overs

The veteran Indians spinner had been having a bad time with the ball till recently. The 37-year-old began his day with the wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk who was smashing the Royals bowlers to all parts of the ground. This was followed by the wicket of Axar Patel who was looking to open his shoulders. The biggest wicket picked by Ashwin was that of top scorer Abhishek Porel for 65 to end his night on a high. 

4. Tristan Stubbs – 41 runs from 20 balls

Delhi Capitals could reach the 221 run mark thanks to the late flourish by Tristan Stubbs. The South African star came out to bat at number six and smashed 41 from just 20 balls which included 3 fours and 3 sixes including two big ones off Sandeep Sharma. It was a key innings as at one stage it looked like the Capitals will be bowled out under 200. 

3. Jake Fraser-McGurk – 50 runs from 20 balls

The young Australian batter has taken the IPL by storm ever since his debut. Jake Fraser-McGurk who missed selection for the T20 World Cup decided to show the Australian selectors what they were missing with yet another brutal innings. The highlight of the night was McGurk smashing Avesh Khan for 28 runs to get to his half-century in 19 balls. 

2. Abhishek Porel – 65 runs from 36 balls

If his opening partner was going great guns, Abhishek Porel wasn’t left far behind. The young batter batted well and hit 7 crisp fours and 3 huge sixes to score his first-ever IPL fifty. Porel who began the season with a sensational innings against Punjab Kings was at his imperious best with the bat.

1. Sanju Samson – 86 runs from 46 balls

After his duck against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sanju Samson decided to show why he was selected for the T20 World Cup. The Rajasthan Royals skipper was at his best as he took on the Capitals bowlers to top score with 86 runs. His knock came off 46 balls with the help of 8 fours and 6 sixes. Shai Hope took an exceptional catch to dismiss the Royals skipper in what was the turning point of the game.
