IPL 2024: Top 3 player battles to watch out for in the CSK vs KKR match

The Indian Premier League (IPL)'s 22nd match is between the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Chennai. Both teams have played around 28 matches together. On the one hand, where CSK has the upper hand, won 18 matches while KKR has won only 10 matches. The rivalry started in 2012 when KKR defeated CSK in the 2012 finals in their own backyard.

Since then, there's been a severe fan war going on whenever these two play against each other. KKR has been unbeaten in this season, so it is an advantage for CSK to win the match and break KKR's record. Moreover, there are some player battles as well which have become quite famous over the years.

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Sunil Narine:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK captain, is one of the best openers in the team. He has played some beautiful knocks which has turned CSK's fortune in the last couple of years. He has a decent record against the KKR spinner, Sunil Narine, who is known for his mystery bowling. In 39 balls, Gaikwad has scored around 55 runs while Narine has dismissed the batter only once. Hence, in this match, it will be interesting to see whether Gaikwad is going to score against the spinner or will the Caribbean spinner dismiss the batter for the second time. 

2. Shreyas Iyer vs Ravindra Jadeja:

Shreyas Iyer is a good player of spin and has a good record against CSK's spinner Ravindra Jadeja. He has faced 60 balls and scored 53 runs off Jadeja while the spin wizard has taken his wicket only once. Being KKR's captain, the pressure will be on Iyer to perform well for the team. However, Jadeja is in his prime form and will look to dismiss the batter and not let him settle. 

3. Venkatesh Iyer vs Deepak Chahar:

After having a good IPL season in 2022 and 2023, Venkatesh Iyer has become a permanent member of the KKR team. He has performed constantly whenever his team needed him and his record against CSK's prime pacer Deepak Chahar is impressive. In 17 balls Iyer has scored 25 runs while Deepak has dismissed him only once. Hence, this match will be intriguing to watch to know where this battle goes.
