Mumbai Indians (MI) are one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with five trophies under their name. They have qualified for the playoffs nine times after playing in 16 seasons of IPL. Throughout seasons, MI had a great team with stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson and many more who have played some quality cricket and made sure their team won trophies.

However, MI's fortunes changed after Rohit Sharma joined the team as a captain in 2013. He has done an amazing job in keeping the team intact and managing the players throughout the decade. Now, Hardik Pandya has taken over the captaincy and will be looking forward to doing the same. Even though they have just won two out of three matches yet, they have a fair chance of qualifying for the playoffs.

Let's check out three reasons regarding Mumbai Indians' qualification scenario in the IPL 2024:

1. Batting line-up back in sound

Mumbai Indians are finally back in form in terms of batting. In a classic run chase against RCB, MI chased down a mammoth score of 197 runs at the loss of just three wickets with four overs to spare. The top order has started to fire up which is a positive sign for the team's future. With this line up they do have a chance to qualify for the playoffs even after losing three straight matches.

2. Bumrah - the  X factor

One of the main reasons behind MI's strong comeback is the presence of Jasprit Bumrah in the team. He is an outstanding bowler with perfect line and length. To top it all, he has good control over his speed which deceives the batters most of the time. His recent performance against RCB where he claimed a five-wicket haul is what the team will expect from him in the future as well.

3. They have done it in past as well being in similar situation

Mumbai Indians are well-known for their comebacks in all the seasons. There are several instances where MI lost a few matches at the start but then were able to convert in the rest of the matches which helped them win the finals as well. Hence, losing the first few matches isn't a big deal for the men in blue as they have a solid team to make historical comebacks.
