IPLKolkata Knight Riders’ were put into bat first and scored a huge and imposing total of 222/6 from their 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer was the best batter for the home team with 50 runs as Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh gave the innings the finishing touches. 

The visitors suffered a bad start to the chase as the two opening batters departed very early. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar then added 102 runs for the 3rd wicket before both the batters lost their wickets in a single over. In the end, the total of 223 to win was just too much for RCB as they slumped to their 7th defeat of the season and nearly sealed their fate for the season. The Margin of loss was just one run despite some late flourish from Karn Sharma who scored 20 runs from 7 balls. 

5. Andre Russell – 27* off 20 balls and 3/25 from 3 overs

Kolkata Knight Riders had Andre Russell come to the fore once again with the bat and ball during a tense game against RCB. The 35-year-old first scored an unbeaten 27 runs from 20 balls with four hits to the fence. This was followed by his exploits with the ball where he dismissed Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar in a single over. The right-arm pacer struck the biggest blow when he got the wicket of the dangerous Dinesh Karthik for 25 to seal the deal. 

4. Shreyas Iyer – 50 runs from 36 balls

The Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper finally found form with the bat during the IPL 2024 season. Shreyas Iyer scored 50 runs from 36 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six that helped his side reach a huge total on the board. The presence of Shreyas Iyer in the middle helped calm the nerves at a time when KKR lost a few wickets. 

3. Phil Salt – 48 runs from 14 balls

With all the success the openers have been getting in IPL 2024, Phil Salt wasn’t left far behind. The 27-year-old showed his destructive side once more by taking the attack to the RCB opening bowlers. Lockie Ferguson bore the brunt of Salt’s early assault as the Kiwi pacer was hit for 28 runs in his first over. 

2. Rajat Patidar – 52 runs from 23 balls

Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans finally found Rajat Patidar back to his best with the bat. The 30-year-old showed his full repertoire of shots as he hit five huge sixes and three fours to reach his half-century from just 21 balls. The hopes of a million RCB fans suffered a huge blow when Rajat Patidar mistimed a big hit off Andre Russell to be caught by Harshit Rana. 

1. Will Jacks – 55 runs from 32 balls

English batter Will Jacks took it upon himself to give RCB a great chance to fight back. Chasing 223 against KKR was never going to be easy considering RCB had lost Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis in quick succession. Will Jacks didn’t slow down as he kept hitting the bowlers to all parts of the Eden Gardens stadium to reach his first IPL fifty in just 29 balls. The enterprising knock was ended when Will Jacks was dismissed by Andre Russell to change the course of the game.
