Here’s a look at 5 underperforming overseas players

Daryl Mitchell – CSK

Daryl Mitchell

The star New Zealand batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell was bought by the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings for an amount of INR 14.00 crores in the IPL 2024 mini-auction. However, Mitchell’s performances so far in IPL 2024 haven’t been worth the amount spent by CSK to pick him.

He has scored only 118 runs in the 5 innings of the 5 matches with a poor average of 29.50 and a strike rate of only 125.53, with only 5 fours and 5 sixes with the bat. Speaking of his bowling, he has scalped only 1 wicket so far in the current season of the tournament.

Glenn Maxwell – RCB

Glenn Maxwell

The veteran and blistering Australia all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell has failed badly with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He has batted in 5 innings of the 5 matches he has played so far for RCB in this season. In these 5 innings, he has scored only 32 runs with a very dismal average of 6.40, with only 3 fours and a six with the bat.

Speaking of bowling, Maxwell has picked 4 wickets after 8 overs so far in the ongoing 17th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Cameron Green – RCB

Cameron Green

The young Australia all-rounder Cameron Green was one of the star performers for the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League last year in 2023. He scored 452 runs in 16 matches with a brilliant average of 50.22, hitting a century and two half-centuries with the bat in IPL 2023.

Later, he was picked by RCB during the IPL 2024 mini-auction for a whopping price of INR 17.50 crores. But the Aussie star has failed to live up to the franchise’s expectations and has scored only 68 runs with the bat, with a poor average of 17.00, hitting only 6 fours and 2 sixes. He has also been not impressive with the ball, scalping only 2 wickets in 11.1 overs so far with an economy rate of 9.40 and a dismal average of 52.50.

Mitchell Starc – KKR

Mitchell Starc

The veteran Australia pacer Mitchell Starc is one of the most expensive players among all who are featured in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. The two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Mitchell Starc for a massive amount of INR 24.75 crores during the mini-auction for IPL 2024.

Starc hasn’t justified KKR’s move of spending huge money over him and has scalped only 2 wickets in the 4 innings of the 4 matches, after bowling 14 overs, having a poor economy rate of 11.00 and an unbelievably disappointing average of 77.00.

Alzarri Joseph – RCB

Alzarri Joseph

Earlier, the 27-year-old Caribbean pacer Alzarri Joseph was associated with the IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans. He was there in the role of a second-choice bowler of the Titans’ setup but surprisingly the Royal Challengers Bengaluru went on to spend INR 11.50 crores in the IPL 2024 mini-auction to buy Alzarri Joseph.

He has been very costly for RCB as he has scalped only 1 wicket after bowling 9.4 overs and conceding 115 runs, with an economy rate of 11.90.
