Indian cricket fans are set for a huge bonanza as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to play the 2024 Duleep Trophy matches. The tournament is set to begin on the 5th of September and end on the 24th of September. Indian Express carried a report where it was said that two could opt to play the event.

If the news is true then the two stars will play the initial few games and might miss the last leg of the tournament. The final leg of the Duleep Trophy 2024 season will clash with the first India vs Bangladesh Test which starts on 19th September in Chennai.

The Indian Express also reported that almost all of the top stars will be part of the event set to be played in Andhra Pradesh. The likes of KL Rahul. Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are set to play in the tournament.

Will Jasprit Bumrah be part of Duleep Trophy 2024?

According to reports, in the Indian Express newspaper, Jasprit Bumrah has been granted an extension to his holidays. The 30-year-old hasn’t played for India since the T20 World Cup and will be rested for massive games coming up. The selectors want to preserve Bumrah for the tedious Australian tour coming up later this year.

Mohammed Shami is another player who could be part of the tournament. The right-arm pacer is closer to return as confirmed by chief of selectors Ajit Agarkar during his chat with the media recently.

Duleep Trophy 2024 will serve as a huge platform for all the Test players and the hopefuls as well as the fringe players to stake a claim. Suryakumar Yadav has just played one Test for India and has stated that he wants to be an all-format player for India.

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan too could be part of the tournament. Ishan Kishan in particular hasn’t played for India since late 2023. The left-handed batter withdrew from the South African tour and didn’t play Ranji Trophy for Jharkhand last year. Both players lost their national contracts and their participation in the Duleep Trophy could ease their way back into the national Test team.
