Amidst massive speculations ahead of the IPL 2025 auctions, Mumbai Indians have made a massive on one of their star players. The name in question is Suryakumar Yadav who happens to be the captain of the Indian T20I side. There were reports that Yadav was approached by Kolkata Knight Riders to leave Mumbai and become their new skipper.

One source from the Mumbai Indians, speaking to Sports Tak, said, “No, he won’t leave. It's just people speculating on social media to get engagement.” This now puts to bed rumours about Suryakumar Yadav potentially leaving the five-time champions.

The 33-year-old is currently at the National Cricket Academy recuperating from his injury. Yadav had hurt himself while fielding during the Buchi Babu tournament while playing for Mumbai. This also means that Suryakumar Yadav will not be part of the first round of Duleep Trophy 2024 matches starting on Thursday.

Rohit Sharma’s future still uncertain?

While Suryakumar Yadav is set to stay with Mumbai Indians next season, the future of Rohit Sharma is still up in the air. Reports and speculations still swirl around Rohit’s future with the team after the acrimony over the captaincy situation.

It is set to be a huge year for Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 mega auctions. The men in blue and gold have finished in the bottom two twice in three years. Their last title win came in 2020 where they became the first team to win 5 IPL titles.

Hardik Pandya was re-signed by the team post the retention date last November. Once he made his return to Mumbai, the Indian star was given the captaincy of the team. There were reports that many big name players weren’t happy with the move to replace Rohit Sharma.

There are set to be some massive changes in the team but the captaincy isn’t one of them. According to a few reports, it is certain that Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the side going into the new season. Last year Mumbai Indians won just 4 matches and for the 3rd time in 4 seasons failed to make it to the playoff stages of IPL.
