India registered a convincing win over Bangladesh in the 1st Test of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The local boy, Ravichandran Ashwin, was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance. Ashwin smashed his 6th Test ton in the first innings and took a five-for in the 2nd innings helping the Indian team to win the match by 280 runs.

Meanwhile, BCCI have decided to retain the same squad for the 2nd Test against Bangladesh which will be played in Kanpur on September 27. The playing XI is also likely to be the same as skipper Rohit Sharma and the head coach Gautam Gambhir will look to go with the same playing XI for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. However, Mohammed Shami is expected to make his return to the team and might replace Akashdeep.

India vs New Zealand Test series kicks off on October 16

As India will show up the same squad, it means that there is now chance for players like Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan to get a chance to play. It is also unlikely that the management would make any changes in the playing XI. However, there are few players like Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yash Dayal who are hoping to get an opportunity to play in the 2nd Test. Dayal is the player in the current squad who is yet to make his debut.

India's next Test assignment would be against New Zealand which will be kicked off on October 16. The Kiwis are currently playing a Test series against Sri Lanka.

India’s squad for the 2nd Test against Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal.
