The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin on October 6. The first match will be played in Kanpur Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the team even though Hardik Pandya will also be there in the squad.
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson has also got a place in the squad and is most likely to be the first-choice wicketkeeper for the series. The star right-handed batter from Kerala recently smashed a century in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy 2024. However, it’d be interesting to see if he will be able to utilise this golden opportunity.
Mayank Yadav receives maiden national call-up
A surprising inclusion also took place as Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) star mystery spinner, Varun Chakaravarthy, made a comeback to the national team after a three-year hiatus. His impressive outings in the IPL 2024 have earned him a spot in the squad. Varun was selected in the 2021 T20 World Cup, however, he didn’t get any further chances in the national team.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) star young pacer, Mayank Yadav has received his maiden national call-up. Mayank was pretty impressive earlier this year in IPL, however, he sustained an injury and was ruled out of the tournament. The star pacer has now recovered and will be seen donning the iconic blue jersey for the first time.
