Indian cricket team began their preparations for Champions Trophy 2025 with the three-match ODI series versus England. After winning the first ODI by four wickets in Nagpur, the Men in Blue move to Cuttack to play the second ODI. If the hosts win the game on Sunday they will take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
With just two matches left for Champions Trophy 2025 tournament, England will be looking to fine tune their preparations. Jos Buttler’s side were bowled out for 248 with the skipper himself top scoring with 52 runs in the first match. Failure to pick wickets when India were running rampant made sure that England lost the match.
So far Cuttack has played host to 19 matches and teams that have batted second have won on 12 occasions. So far India and England have played 10 matches in Cuttack with the hosts winning six games and the visiting side winning four. Their last meeting at this venue came during the three-match ODI series in 2017. Virat Kohli led India won the match by 15 runs in what was an high scoring encounter.

It was Eoin Morgan who won the toss and chose to bowl first and the move seemed to have paid off. Chris Woakes bowled a dream first spell to leave India reeling at 25 for 3 in the fifth over. Woakes began by dismissing KL Rahul for five caught by Ben Stokes. The right-arm pacer then got Virat Kohli out for eight to give Stokes his second catch. Shikhar Dhawan lost his stumps to Woakes for 11 to dent India’s top order.
This got India’s veteran duo Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni to the crease. The pair went onto add 256 runs for the fourth wicket off 230 balls. Yuvraj registered his highest ever ODI score of 150 which came off 127 balls with 21 fours and three sixes. Former skipper MS Dhoni showed his old self with his brutal knock of 134 off 122 balls with ten fours and six huge hits into the crowd as India reached 381/6 from 50 overs.
England lost Alex Hales early for 14 to Jasprit Bumrah but Jason Roy and Joe Root fought back well. The second wicket stand between the duo was worth 100 runs which came off 16 overs before Root fell for 54 to R. Ashwin. The next man to fall was Jason Roy who was bowled by Jadeja for 82. Ashwin struck for a second time when he bowled Ben Stokes for just one run. '
Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali then combined forces to add 93 runs for the sixth to bring England back into the game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled Moeen Ali for 55 but Morgan kept going as he scored a century before he was out for 102 off 81 balls with six fours and five sixes. Team India won the game by 15 runs and took 2-0 unassailable lead in the series.
