Suryakumar Yadav-led team India are set to play the first of five T20I matches against England on Wednesday. The first game of the tournament is set to be played at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. The defending T20 World Cup winners had beaten England in their last meeting which took place during the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Eden Gardens has always been a batting paradise and both teams will look to win the toss and bowl first. There will be dew in the second half of the game making it difficult for bowlers to hold the ball. England has already named three front-line seamers in their side with a few all-round options. With the short boundaries on both sides of the square, one can expect the game to be high-scoring with lots of boundaries being scored.

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav has seen his bat go silent in recent times but the 34-year-old has all the talent to come good with the bat. England will be banking on Jos Buttler and Phil Salt in particular who have lots of experience playing in India thanks to the IPL.

Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami will play a key role with the new ball and also in the death overs. Arshdeep is on the cusp of becoming the first Indian bowler to take 100 T20I Wickets. Varun Chakravarthy who knows the conditions very well will be expected to spearhead the bowling attack for India. England will have Adil Rashid to look out for along with pacer Jofra Archer who is finally putting behind his struggles with various injuries.
