Former India skipper Virat Kohli has been the biggest point of focus ahead of India's match against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025. The 36-year-old has been the topic of discussion due to his form with the bat. Kohli came for practice 90 minutes early in a bid to get ready for the massive match against Pakistan. A few eagle-eyed social media users spotted Kohli wearing an ice pack on his leg near the ankle area.
This has now raised huge concerns about Kohli’s fitness ahead of the game on Sunday. Virat Kohli is a huge player for Rohit Sharma and the Indian team management cannot afford to go into such a high-voltage encounter without their star batter. Team India are second in Group A after winning the game against Bangladesh on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan are sweating it out as they get ready for their encounter against the Men in Blue. Opening batter Imam-ul-Haq is set to make his ODI comeback to replace Fakhar Zaman, who got injured in the last match. A loss on Sunday will spell an end to Pakistan’s reign as Champions Trophy winners.
Sanjay Manjrekar makes huge statement on Kohli’s form
Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar was joined by former Australian skipper Michael Clarke as the duo dissected Virat Kohli’s form. During his chat on Star Sports, Manjrekar said, “I think he is trying too hard. Coming 90 minutes earlier to practice is a sign. He can come two minutes before the match and get going. I think he is trying a bit too much.”
Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke said, “I think Virat is one of those players who thrives in big tournaments. He hasn't been in the best of form, which is why he's training an hour and a half earlier. That's what great players do—when something doesn't feel right, they make time to correct it before stepping onto the field."
Clarke also added, “What I like about the Champions Trophy is that there's no time to ease into the tournament—you have to be at your best straight away. Virat is such a great player that he might just flick that switch. You might have watched him the other day and thought he wasn't at his best, but he steps up when India needs him most. Don't be surprised if it happens against Pakistan on the big day.”
