The 36-year-old became the first Asian batter to register 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket. Former Australian star David Warner leads the list with (108) fifties in this format of the game. Kohli, reached the mark with a huge six off Wanindu Hasaranga to put his team on the cusp of a huge win.
It was Rajasthan Royals who batted first after Patidar won the toss. RR managed to score 173 runs from their 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the batting charts for RR with 75 runs from 47 balls. Riyan Parag (30) and Dhruv Jurel (35*) gave RR the much-needed impetus with the bat in the latter half of the innings
Rajasthan Royals’ poor fielding helps RCB coast to easy win
Phil Salt and Virat Kohli were the recipients of some shoddy fielding from RR as the duo added 92 for the first wicket. Salt played the aggressor as he went onto notch up his second half-century of the season in the eighth over of the innings. Sandeep Sharma saw three catches dropped off his bowling to endure a horrible day on the field.
The first catch was that of Virat Kohli who was on seven when Riyan Parag put down a skier. Two balls later Salt offered a tough return catch to Sharma who couldn’t hang on to it. Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped the third catch at extra cover and also missed the chance to run-out the batter.
Kumar Kartikeya final got the wicket of Salt in the fourth ball of the ninth over as Yashasvi Jaiswal took an easy catch. Salt was out after scoring 65 off just 33 balls with the help of five boundaries and six maximums. Virat Kohli was not out on 62 off 45 balls with Devdutt Padikkal scoring unbeaten 40 off 28 deliveries.
