Pakistan fought back well during the Cape Town Test match with skipper Shan Masood scoring 145 runs with the bat. Just as the visiting skipper was looking good to score a huge ton tragedy struck. Masood was given out LBW to debutant Kwena Maphaka which made the left-handed batter unhappy.
The incident in question happened in the third ball of the 84th over of the innings. Maphaka was bowling over the wicket and the delivery kept low as Masood was struck on the pads. South African wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne was quick to appeal and convinced the skipper to take the DRS.
Shan Masood falls for 145. His innings was outstanding but he seems unhappy with his dismissal 💔 #PAKvsSA #SAvPAK #PakistanCricket pic.twitter.com/AHnqOHr2bZ

Once the decision was sent upstairs, it initially looked as if the impact was just outside the off-stump. Much to the surprise of the Pakistani skipper, the impact was seen to be in-line and the batter had to make his way back to the hut. Once he was back in the pavilion Masood wasn’t happy with the call and was seen having his say with a shocked look on his face.
Pakistan loses wickets at regular intervals
Having been asked to follow-on, Pakistan saw Shan Masood and Babar Azam add 205 runs for the first wicket. That stand came in 46 before Babar Azam was out for 81 runs dismissed by Marco Jansen towards the end of the day. The former Pakistan skipper was also the leading scorer in the first innings with 58 runs.
Marco Jansen struck again on day four when he had Khurram Shahzad caught by Keshav Maharaj for 18. Kamran Ghulam came out looking to score runs and hit four boundaries enroute to his 28. Kagiso Rabada ended his breezy knock when the batter saw his stumps knocked over.
The second new ball did the trick for the home team, as Saud Shakeel was out to Rabada. Shakeel scored 23 runs from 51 balls before being caught by Aiden Markram. Skipper Shan Masood got his 145 runs off 251 balls with 17 hits to the fence. With Saim Ayub unable to bat, Pakistan will have to depend on their lower order to put a decent total on the board and make the hosts bat again.
