The veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has come up with a big hint about the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. His retirement from the tournament is expected after the end of the ongoing IPL 2024 campaign of his side Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

His three-year contract with RCB is also set to end after the conclusion of the current season; the red and gold outfits in the IPL 2022 signed him. Karthik also about the regrets he has in his career, the first was in 2014 when he didn’t stay with MI, and the other is not playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. While speaking with Naseer Hussain and Michael Atherton in a podcast on Sky Sports, the veteran Indian cricketer spoke his heart out.

Here's what Dinesh Karthik said about his retirement with 'Shahid Afridi' reference

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik also went on to troll the former Pakistan skipper and all-rounder, Shahid Afridi while speaking about his retirement.

“You know I have had this conversation with both of you at different points during my last stint in the UK on how you decide when to retire; is there something called a niceswon? It is coming to an end. It has come to an end. I did bat well in a couple of games. I felt good, which was very surprising. It is not easy mixing, broadcasting, and playing. I played at the DY Patil Tournament and felt abysmal in it,” said Karthik to Naseer Hussain and Michael Atherton.

“Unless you are Shahid Afridi (on retirement), but in most cases, once it’s done, it’s done. How I look at it is, once you finish, do I regret anything or am I missing anything? I have a couple of regrets. One missed the opportunity to be retained by the Mumbai Indians. I think I missed the opportunity; they were keen on me not playing for the Super Kings because I am from Chennai. They have always bid for me but could never get me. I wish I could turn the clock back and change things,” he added later.
