Ashwin said, “In five to ten years, people are not going to keep coming and asking me for photos and autographs or whatever. These people (fans) have given me whatever the family that they have given me I am okay to deal with it.”
Veteran spinner also added, “The point of wanting to seclude yourself is kind of amusing for me because nobody here, because they all love you and the worst thing that could happen is there might be five to six people who gather around and you just need to smile and take a picture or say no and say give me some space, that’s it.”
Ashwin recalls early dating phase with wife Priti Narayanan
Spinner R. Ashwin got married to his childhood sweetheart in 2011 just days after he made his Test debut. In the same interview with Bharat Sundaresan, Ashwin recalled the early dating life and how the two met.
The 38-year-old said, “We kind of knew each other in middle school. We were acquaintances or classmates in school; that's it. Nothing more than that. That was not the era of cellphones. You had to call somebody on a landline. Every time I called her on her landline, her father would pick up. So what are the odds that you maintain a relationship for such a long time?"
Ashwin will be playing for the Chennai Super Kings during the coming season of the IPL. The veteran star has already said that he wants to continue playing the game for a long time. India’s spin legend ended his career with 537 wickets from 106 matches and also scored six centuries, the last of which came in Chennai against Bangladesh.
During his chat with the media, he was heard saying, “I am going to play for CSK, and don't be surprised if I try and aspire to play for as long as I can. I don't think Ashwin the cricketer is done. I think Ashwin, the Indian cricketer, has probably called it time. That's it."
