During his chat with ANI, Yograj said “I have always felt that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should not be dropped. If you drop them, then your team will fall apart. We may have lost in Australia, but we should not forget that we have beaten them in two series too”
Yograj Singh also said “I was worried that 5-6 people might be dropped, Shubman or Virat could be among them, so I think this is the best thing that has happened. I want to congratulate the board, the think tank, and the selectors. I appreciate these people,"
Indian skipper signals his intent regarding Champions Trophy 2025
Rohit Sharma is set to lead the side while Virat Kohli is set to bat at number three spot. Speaking during the Wankhede Stadium celebration event on Sunday, Rohit said “We will embark on another tournament. I am sure when we reach Dubai, the wishes of 140 crore people will be behind us, we know that. We will try and do everything we can to bring this trophy back here to the Wankhede”
Meanwhile, former India batter Suresh Raina during his chat with Star Sports has backed Rohit to find his form with the bat. India’s skipper was one of the best batters during the 2023 ODI World Cup and second best batter during the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Raina said “When Rohit wasn’t selected in the 2011 World Cup team, he felt really bad. Hence, he wanted to make it count in the Champions Trophy 2013. The conditions in Dubai will be completely different from the last time we won in England and he knows how to handle that situation. If Rohit ends up playing till 20–25 overs, I won’t be surprised if he repeats his 2019 World Cup heroics,”
